Posted on September 8, 2017 at 12:45 PM by Laura Oldham

On September 8, 2017, around 4:20 am officers observed a suspicious vehicle found in the area of Inglis Ave and Hope Ave. Due to a rash of criminal activity that started on August 30 including burglaries, B&E’s and stolen vehicles, a canvass of the area was conducted. A resident’s door was found standing open, and the home was determined to have been burglarized. Items that resemble those stolen from the residence appeared to be inside the suspicious vehicle. A search warrant is currently being executed on the vehicle to look for further evidence.

Just a few blocks away, officers received a call of two individuals in the backyard of a home in the 1300 block of Mulford Rd. Those two suspects were located minutes later, and they were detained. The suspects were found to be in possession of items stolen from the burglary on Inglis Ave. Both suspects were transported to the Grandview Heights Police Department for further questioning. They were each subsequently charged with one count of burglary, a felony of the 2nd degree.

The suspects are identified as Jessie Bumgardner, 18, of Columbus, and Trina Bumgardner, 18, of Columbus is a suspect in a recent burglary that occurred earlier in the week in the 1100 block of Willard Ave, where he was able to evade officers who witnessed him driving the victim’s stolen vehicle. Jessie and Trina Bumgardner were transported to the Franklin County Jail.

The investigation is continuing into other suspects believed to be involved in the recent burglaries and breaking and enterings.
