Updated Pool Policy: Open Containers and Glass Containers Prohibited, Coolers will be Inspected

Due to a number of recent incidents involving alcohol at the Grandview Heights Municipal Pool, the decision was made to temporarily limit coolers in the pool area until the City could review this. Alcohol and the use of glass containers pose safety risks to pool users and visitors.

We recognize that many pool users wish to keep their food and nonalcoholic drinks cold during their visits to enhance their recreational experience. Effective immediately, coolers and other containers brought to the pool will be subject to inspection. Glass containers and alcohol should not be brought to the pool, and may be confiscated if found in coolers or bags. The use of smaller coolers is encouraged to expedite inspections. Persons with larger coolers may be asked to move to the side to have their containers inspected before entering the facility.

Alcohol is prohibited in City parks and at the pool unless otherwise posted. Failure to comply can result in a charge of a 4th degree misdemeanor per City Ordinance section 951.01(f) and 951.99: No person shall take into any park any alcoholic beverages...  No person under the influence of alcohol or narcotic drugs…shall be allowed to enter or remain the parks…”.  Failure to comply will result in being asked to leave the facility. Repeated violations may result in legal action and suspension of pool privileges.

Thank you for helping us keep users of our parks facilities safe.
